Injured? We are here to help.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I do if I have been injured in a car accident?

The first priority should be your health. You need to get medical care right away. If you are injured, or there is suspicion of injury, cooperate with medical personnel who recommended tests and/or hospitalization. Do not be overly concerned about the medical expenses at this point. Your health is most important.

If possible, exchange contact and insurance information with the other driver. However, make sure to not take money from the other driver or make a statement to the other person’s insurance company about the accident. Take down names and contact information for any witnesses that were at the scene of the accident. If anyone is injured, or the damages exceed $1,000, report the accident to Police or a Collision Centre. If police are present at the scene of the accident, make sure to keep a copy of the police report. A police report contains vital information that will help you with your claim. Before having any exchange with the other person or their insurance, contact us, and we will guide you through the process to acquire you the maximum compensation.

How much is my claim worth?

Every claim is different. Your compensation will depend on the severity of your injuries and the financial losses that you sustain as a result. Several things are taken into consideration when awarding compensation – for example loss of income, loss of enjoyment of life, and future medical costs. When you meet with us, we will evaluate your case to determine what we can do to help you. Of course, our ultimate goal as personal injury lawyers is to get you the maximum compensation for your injuries so that you are fully and completely satisfied.

What can I get compensation for?

There are a lot of expenses that the injured person and their family will be plagued with. You can be reimbursed for the following costs:

  • All Medical and Rehabilitation expenses
  • Time off work
  • Cost of hiring a baby sitter while you unable to care for your kids or while you attend meetings or doctors appointments
  • Cost of transportation (taxis, gas, etc.)

When do I start my claim?

Our suggestion is to start your claim as soon after the injury as possible. If injured in a car accident, you have two years from the date of loss to start your personal injury claim. However, if hurt on city or other government property, your time to start a claim is significantly shorter. Do not delay. Call us and book an appointment to start your claim before it’s too late.

How much will this cost?

Personal injury cases are handled on a contingency-fee basis. We will advance all costs and expenses. We will initially cover the costs for all medical records and reports, all investigation costs including experts, and all litigation and court expenses. That means you will pay absolutely nothing for lawyers’ fees or other costs unless we win a monetary award in your case. Our legal fee will come out of your final settlement as to avoid any further financial strain for you.

Will I be able to recover compensation for my property damage?

Yes, most people are eligible for compensation for the damage done to their car, bicycle, motorcycle or any other vehicle. Our team of legal professionals can help you through the process to insure your damages are covered.

How long will the process take?

Every case is different. The time varies based on injuries and damage you have suffered. Most personal injury cases do not go to trial – they settle at mediation or settlement meetings. It takes time to collect all of the appropriate documentation to make a solid case on your behalf. We promise to work in an efficient manner to resolve your case as soon as possible. Simpler cases could settle in as little as a few months, while the more complicated cases can be resolved within a year or two. Call our firm for an evaluation of your situation for free.

What if I’m at fault?

If you are at fault, you may still be eligible for compensation. Even though you cannot file a tort claim, the financial burden of health rehabilitation does not have to rest solely on your shoulder. You can still apply to get accident benefits to cover the medical costs.

What if I did not have insurance at the time of the accident?

If you did not have coverage at the time of your accident, unfortunately you cannot file a personal injury claim. However, our firm will help you receive accident benefits to cover your medical costs.

What if the driver at fault does not have insurance or if it was a hit and run?

If the driver at fault did not have insurance or fled the scene, there is no need to panic. You are still eligible for coverage from your own insurance company. If you were not the driver, but a passenger, cyclist or pedestrian, you have coverage from Motor Vehicle Accident Fund. Our firm has experience with such cases. Call our firm to meet with a lawyer to find out what you are eligible for.

Will my insurance premiums increase if I start a Personal Injury Claim?

In most cases, the answer is no. Insurance premiums tend to go up when the driver is found at fault. If you were not the liable party, you do not have to worry about an increase in insurance costs.
